March: Winter Trees

Trees reveal their most interesting forms in winter. From peeling birches to the twisted roots and trunks of cedars, to majestic white pines and tall spruce, the Superior shoreline and Cascade River area have some of the most inspiring trees you’ll find anywhere. In this class, we’ll use drawing, pen and ink, and watercolor to help us learn more about the trees around us, capture their unique features, and identify several area tree species from their winter twigs, needles, and bark texture. If you want to “draw a stick figure” this is the class for you…with lots of guided drawing exercises and inspiration, you’ll see trees in a new light.
