Lake Superior Science Story Scouts are a free, drop-in, pop-up science, writing and illustration lab for kids entering grades k-12.
In this hands-on, eyes-focused, feet-walking, arts-infused science writing workshop we explore Lake Superior science through the “jolly ologies;”limnology,
ichthyology, malacology, phenology, aquatic entomology, zoology, etiology, microbiology, palynology, bryology, geology, glaciology, climatology, rheology, mycology, phycology. By using a digital-display microscope we investigate field samples children collect. We interpret, write and draw them.
Sponsored by Minnesota Children’s Press, and The Story Laboratory, LLC, with generous support from the Regenerative Medicine program of the
University of Minnesota, Mayo Clinic and Minnesota State Legislature. Big thanks to Boreal Community Media (www.boreal.org ) for administrative assistance.
