Fish and Fishing on the Gunflint Trail

Date: September 10, 2022

Time: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Description

Where did the fish we enjoy so much come from, what’s new (since the last ice age), and how do agencies like the DNR manage fish and fishing in the area now?  Matt Weberg will discuss fish native to the area, major fish species introductions, and current management.

Matt Weberg has been a Fisheries Specialist and Assistant Area Supervisor at the DNR’s Grand Marais Fisheries office since 2013.  During, that time he has become closely acquainted with fish and fishing along the Gunflint Trail, with a wealth of historic information at his fingertips.  Matt’s knowledge of local lakes is matched by his enthusiasm for fishing, and his concern for habitat and water quality in the area.

All presentations are family-friendly and free to the public. Donations are always appreciated.
