travel tips
Book early – lodging is getting hard to find, that said, here are some specials for winter.
Be Patient – every business is short staffed, we’ve got road construction and it is busy
Have Fun – look at what to do in each community, check out the mile-by-mile list, find a map, an event, and see every place you can access Lake Superior.

Be flexible, don’t litter and remember … you don’t have to hurry up to slow down
here are some wonderful places to stay . . .
a note from nina
spring green
The trees are starting to pop but we still aren’t at full green-up. It should happen by the 3rd week of May. We’ve had a bit of warmth and a deluge of rain on May 13, which caused many wash outs and road/trail closures. Everyone is hoping these will re-open for Memorial Day Weekend,. It will be weather [and damage] dependent.
A sure thing right now is waterfalls tours. The rivers are overflowing and the falls are thundering with spring melt and rains. I’ve added a pdf North Shore Waterfall Map and I’ve got the interactive Waterfalls Near Me map to help you plan. Plus you can sort waterfalls by categories and each includes a description, directions and map.
Did you know we’ve got a Restaurants Near Me feature? Same for Shops Near Me!
For more fun, check out our Mile by Mile Guide and the Events pages, woo hoo!
