Moose lick salt on road

Date: November 17, 2023 - December 18, 2023

Time: 12:00 am

Event Description

When temps drop in the winter, roads are salted to keep ice from forming. Like many of us, moose crave a little salt. Carefully drive paved roads – like the Gunflint Trail or Minnesota Highway 1 – at dusk . Keep an eye out and be prepared to stop. The same thing happens when temps begin to warm in March into April.

Make it a getaway! See Gunflint Trail Lodging
