North Shore Events

Each small town celebrates nature, arts and history, the great outdoors, local and regional talents, holidays and community. And you’re invited to join in. This North Shore Calendar of Events lists all kinds of goings-on; guided hikes, 99-mile bike races, fine art exhibits, pie-eating contests, solstice celebrations, historical talks, workshops, classes, summer festivals, small town parades, and the annual lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse.

Species of Special Concern Gallery Exhibition

Date: April 27, 2024 - May 19, 2024

Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Location: Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery

Event Description

Join us for our latest exhibit, Species of Special Concern from artist Tanya Piatz.

Piatz is a self-taught artist who focuses on raising awareness for habitat conservation, and how the habitat directly impacts the diversity of species found in the environment. She does this by illustrating birds that we see every day, as well as lesser-known species, that are found on Minnesota’s DNR’s “Species of Special Concern” list.

Gallery exhibition runs April 26 – May 19 alongside our permanent Anna C Johnson collection and gift shop featuring local artists.

Piatz will also be giving an Artist’s Talk on her work on Thursday, May 16th, starting at 5 pm.
