summer events on the north shore

North Shore Events

Each small town celebrates nature, arts and history, the great outdoors, local and regional talents, holidays and community. And you’re invited to join in. This North Shore Calendar of Events lists all kinds of goings-on; guided hikes, 99-mile bike races, fine art exhibits, pie-eating contests, solstice celebrations, historical talks, workshops, classes, summer festivals, small town parades, and the annual lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse.

Time: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: Gooseberry Falls State Park

Event Description

Join us at Gooseberry Falls State Park for a fun-filled Lake Superior Day event. Enjoy interactive activities and games for all ages, a documentary showing and live concert – all to celebrate the beauty, power, and importance of Lake Superior.

The “Lost Forty” will perform at Lady Slipper Lodge from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The Lady Slipper Amphitheater is a great place for a lunch! A vehicle permit is required to park anywhere past the contact station.

Free showings of “A Sea Change for Superior”, a 60-minute documentary, will play at the theater room in the visitor center.

Showings will play at 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm, and 4:30 pm. The theater capacity is limited to 45 people, and will be first come, first served.

Park in the free wayside rest parking lot near the visitor center and participate in activities like trivia, competitive water walks, and painting from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

This event is part of a larger celebration along the North Shore, with many events July 21st. Check out LAKE SUPERIOR DAY – July 21, 2024 – National Today for more information.
