Ojibwe Snowshoe Lacing Workshop

Event Description

Get ready for winter by learning how to lace your own snowshoes in this two-day hands on and rewarding workshop. Learn which knots to use and how to weave the three areas of decking onto the frame. Experienced instructors will provide assistance for you to lace your own pair of Ojibwe-style snowshoes. This workshop (recommended for ages 10 and up with an adult) will consist of two consecutive day sessions from 9am to 4pm at the Visitor Center.

***Participants must attend both days.

The cost is a $100 registration fee. This fee includes the snowshoe kit, materials and instruction, along with coffee, tea, and snacks. Bindings and varnish are not included. Lunch will not be provided for the weekend workshop, so attendees should bring a sack lunch. Workshop has a minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 12 participants.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required by November 13th to ensure materials arrive in time. Snowshoe sizes are small (up to 120 pounds), medium (up to 180 pounds), and large (over 180 pounds). Call Gooseberry Falls 218 595-7108 for more info.
