Time: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Split Rock Lighthouse Historic Site
Event Description
Photography & Art at the Rock is a monthly exhibit in the lobby of the Split Rock Lighthouse Visitor Center, showcasing the work of local artists and photographers who capture the beauty of our landscape and wildlife.
For the month of August, we’re proud to feature the work of Eric Klepinger, a North Shore-based artist whose deep connection to nature shines through in his art.
Artist Bio:
Raised in the mountains of Colorado, Eric developed an early love for the natural world, spending his days exploring the 40 acres around his home and creating pencil sketches for friends and family. Encouraged by his mother and inspired by talented art teachers, Eric went on to earn a degree in graphic arts from the University of Denver. His career in multimedia design eventually gave way to a full-time pursuit of fine art, where he now works in a variety of media including pencil, pastel, scratchboard, pen and ink, and acrylic.
Eric’s creative process is grounded in research and observation, with each composition evolving over weeks of thoughtful design. Drawing on his background in graphic design, he blends realism with a fluid, expressive style to capture the energy and spirit of his subjects. His work reflects a deep reverence for the natural world, which continues to inspire him daily from his cabin home along Lake Superior’s North Shore.
Eric enjoys sharing his passion through teaching and commissioned artwork, and he’s delighted to present his work this August at Split Rock Lighthouse.
Klepinger’s show will run from August 1-31. He will be onsite to talk about his work and process on the following dates:
August 2, 11 am–4 pm
August 9, 11 am– 4 pm
August 30, 11 am– 4 pm
