Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Split Rock Lighthouse Historic Site
Event Description
Photography and Art at the Rock is a monthly exhibit in the lobby of the Split Rock Lighthouse Visitor Center that showcases landscape and wildlife photographers and artists of the area.
For the month of June, our featured photographer is Travis Novitsky.
A lifelong resident of the north shore of Lake Superior, Travis was born in Grand Marais, Minnesota and resides in Grand Portage. He is proud to be a citizen of the Grand Portage Anishinaabe Nation. He has been photographing the north shore for over 20 years and loves to combine photography with his other favorite activities of hiking, biking and skiing.
A self-taught photographer, his knowledge about photography has come primarily from reading books on the subject and from years of experimentation with the camera. He specializes in images of nature and wildlife, but his favorite subject is the night sky. He devotes countless hours to capturing images of moonlight, the Milky Way, and the Aurora Borealis.
Novitsky’s show will run from June 1-30. He will be onsite June 15, 10 am – 4 pm.
