Spirit of the Wilderness Community Art Show, “The Art of Sabbath,” Gallery Exhibition
Date: November 7, 2026 - November 29, 2026
Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery
Event Description
The Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery is pleased to host the 15th annual Spirit of the Wilderness Community Art Show, themed “The Art of Sabbath.”
This gallery exhibition centers around winter in the north, which is a time of survival: physically, mentally, and spiritually. This exhibit explores how artists navigate the season, whether hibernating, ice fishing, or moving south, and looks at how we not only survive, but thrive, during the northern winter. Drawing on the ancient practice of Sabbath, participating artists showcase how they rest, recover, and restore through physical stillness and spiritual reconnection.
The resulting works highlight these personal reflections across all mediums.
The exhibit opens with a public reception on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and runs through November 29, 2026.
JHP is currently operating under a winter schedule and is not open every day. For the most up-to-date gallery hours, visit: cookcountyhistory.org/johnson-heritage-post-art-gallery
