From fishing villages and logging sites to lighthouses, parks, and roadside attractions, Alanen highlights the people and places that shaped one of the Midwest’s most beloved byways.

Arnold R. Alanen is professor emeritus of planning and landscape architecture at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and author of several acclaimed works, including Morgan Park: Duluth, U.S. Steel, and the Forging of a Company Town.
