USFS Summer Naturalist Programs

Event Description

Hosted annually for over two decades, the US Forest Service hosts a summer series of Naturalist Programs at different resorts, campgrounds, and nature sites around Cook County!

All programs are free and open to the public.

Tuesdays

12:30 pm – 2 pm | Lumber Mill Tour | Hedstrom Lumber registration

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm | Minnesota Wild! | Gunflint Lodge

Wednesdays

10:30 am – noon | Explore the Shore: Geology and Beach Walk | East Bay Suites

2:30 pm – 3:30 pm | Minnesota Wild! | Chik-Wauk Museum & Nature Center

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm | Forest Fires: Friend or Foe? | Grand Marais Recreation Area, Campground, and Marina

Thursdays

10:30 am – noon | Make a Dreamcatcher | Lutsen Mountains (Scandinavian Chalet)

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm | The Amazing Amoosing Moose | Bluefin Bay Resort

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm | A Superior North Shore | Lutsen Resort on Lake Superior

Fridays

10:30 am – 11:30 am | Lumber Mill Tour | Hedstrom Lumber registration

10:30 am – noon | Logging in the Time of Paul Bunyan | Caribou Highlands Lodge

Saturdays

10:30 am – noon | Wildflower Hike |Cascade Lodge

7:30 pm – 9:30 pm | Minnesota WILD! | Sawbill Lake Campground
