Author Jennifer Case will give a presentation on her research into her family’s ownership of the former Sawbill Lodge. She is the author of “Sawbill: A Search for Place.”
Sawbill Lodge was built in the 1930s right on Sawbill Lake, where the campground and canoe launch near Sawbill Outfitters currently are. However, it doesn’t exist there anymore. The Lodge was removed in the early 1980s and the cabins were demolished. Solbakken Lodge ended up buying the lodge structure and moving it to their site on Lake Superior, where it still exists.
