Join the JHP Art Gallery for an exhibition of works titled “Calling” created by Alexa Carson.

Alexa Carson’s paintings invoke the call of our wilderness– the call of the chickadee, the loon, the wolf. We are being called back to our natural spaces to reconnect with wildlife, and to reclaim our role as nature’s stewards.

Summer Hours: Wednesday – Saturday 10 am – 4 pm; Sunday 1-4 pm; Monday 10 am – 4 pm. CLOSED TUESDAYS

The exhibit runs through June 30.

Join the Cook County Historical Society in celebrating the history and heritage of Cook County, from Schroeder to up the Gunflint Trail and along the shore all the way to Grand Portage.

There will be events and presentations all weekend for visitors and locals alike.

Take a trip on this 50’ traditionally-rigged steel schooner and gain access to both the largest lake in the world and experience Grand Marais as it was approached in the centuries before Highway 61 — from the water.

Gunflint Trail outfitters want to introduce families and anyone interested to the adventurous joys of canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness by asking visitors to “Wet Your Paddle.”
Outfitters are hosting an hour of free canoe paddling and will provide instruction if needed!

You may visit the outfitter of your choice during their selected hour of the program, but please call ahead to let them know you are coming.
Anyone coming outside of the allotted time slot will be charged normal rental fees.

Go beyond the basic S’more, toss aside the hot dog, and wrap yourself in great baking as we go beyond the old tried and true recipes. Campfire safety cooking techniques are included. Be prepared to practice these new cooking techniques. Meet at Lady Slipper Amphitheater, if poor weather the program will be move to Lady Slipper Lodge.
