Author Talk with Carl Gawboy and Rain Newcomb, Fur Trade Nations – moderated by Staci Drouillard

A special panel session with nationally recognized artist and scholar Carl Gawboy, editor of Thunderbird Press Rain Newcomb, and guided by local author and historian Staci Lola Drouillard. More information to come.

Gawboy offers a fresh perspective on the Fur Trade Era, placing Ojibwe technology, kinship systems, cultural paradigms, and women at the heart of this remarkable era, where they have always belonged.

 

Carl Gawboy is a member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa. He taught college courses covering the fur trade era for thirty years at the College of St Scholastica.

Staci Lola Drouillard is a descendent of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. She lives and works in her hometown of Grand Marais, on Minnesota’s North Shore. She is a multi-award winning author.
