Event Description
They Had a Big Feast: Chippewa City and Ojibwe Food Knowledge at the Turn of the 20th Century – everyone is welcome to attend this Cook County Historical Society presentation from local author Staci Drouillard.
Staci will share stories from her book “Walking the Old Road” and other related texts regarding community foodways and the influence of Ojibwe culture on the foods we still eat and enjoy today. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 15 from 5 – 7 p.m.
In addition to the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to sample various pies and are encouraged, but not required, to bring a pie to share.
Staci Drouillard is a Grand Portage Band of Ojibwe direct descendant, and an award-winning author of “Walking the Old Road” and “Seven Aunts”, both of which are available at the Cook County History Museum or online. Her first children’s book, “A Family Tree,” is available at Drury Lane Books.
