Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center | Schroeder Minnesota

Sean Connaughty’s socially engaged art projects address anthropogenic impacts on the global ecology and humanity’s place within that system. Working on site from May 24 – June 7,  Sean will complete a site-specific installation at Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center. The installation will be exhibited through September 30. There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle at Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center

But I Was Still There

Moira Bateman, Annie Hejny, Moheb Soliman, and Nick Wroblewski completed a 7-day residency at the Art Colony in 2019 focused on “The Water Cycle.” Each of them exploring the nature of water and how it inspires, informs, and challenges their work. They are back to show work that was begun during that time, and found its completion in their home studios.

Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center | Finland MN

Come help us help out our friends at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center by planting and protecting seedling native white pines. These trees will help reforest previously logged areas and improve the climate resiliecy of the Center’s woodlands.

Join for just one day or for both! This would be a fun project for families with children 10 and over.

Camping space will be provided. Camping gear can be provided for a limited number of volunteers.

Stop by our outdoor commons in the center of campus each week to see live traditional craft demonstrations with our talented artisan instructors. Each week a different instructor will be featured and visitors will have the opportunity to observe their hands at work as well as ask questions about the craft. Free

The US Forest Service continues its 20-year Naturalist Program offering Tuesdays through Saturdays at different resorts, campgrounds, and nature sites around Cook County. All programs are free and open to the public. Please wear a mask if unvaccinated!

The tour begins at the Museum and you will walk out to the lighthouse breakwater with a guide who will point out the visible relics of the past and tell the stories of this small harbor and community. The tour will last approximately one hour. Everyone is welcome and it is completely free.
