The North Shore Scenic Railroad operates between Duluth and Two Harbors along the North Shore. Train excursions run from May through mid-October using historic rail equipment from the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.
Daytime shorter trips operate 7 days a week, and on weekends trains operate to Two Harbors with a layover for lunch, shopping, and exploring.

The society opened its first museum operation in the Duluth and Iron Range Railway Depot [D&IRR] in 1960; within this building are over 4,000 square feet of interpretative exhibits highlighting the chronological historical development of the Region and is home to the administrative offices of the Lake County Historical Society. On permanent display outside the depot are D&IRR Locomotive #3, Ore Car #251, Caboose #22 and the DM&IR Mallet #229 Locomotive. The Society's collection of artifacts includes almost 3,500 separate items. There is a collection of almost 5,000 photographs, mostly from pre-1930 and over 150 feet of manuscripts and archival material. The Society operates 3 seasonal historic sites in Two Harbors:

The horrific shipwrecks of November 1905 fuel the demand for a lighthouse along Superior's not sure. The amazing construction process was completed in 1910 and the light at split rock shown until 1968. The history centers superb displays, exhibit, and video presentation showcase the evolution of the lighthouse.
The visitor center includes a museum store with mementos, Split Rock memorabilia and hand-picked gift items.

Over time it has become a landmark, known by both tourists and local residents alike, as the heart of Schroeder. Captain Gary is a USCG licensed charter boat captain with over 30 years of experience fishing out of the Grand Marais marina on Lake Superior. During May and June, we will be downrigging in deeper water for lake trout and salmon. During the months of July, August, and September the salmon action picks up and the lake trout come closer to the surface. During these months we will be using a combination of downriggers, boards, and dipsy divers.

We are a small family-based printmaking operation. We make woodblock prints by hand, pictures of recognizable scenes mostly from the northwoods. Many of these appear as illustrations in books for children and adults. The printmaking studio and gallery is housed in a historic church, selling the current editions of hand-printed woodcuts, as well as the work of local and regional artists.

Welcome aboard the 2 Eazy!! The 2 Eazy is a 1992 Searay Sundancer 290 29 feet in length with a 9-foot beam. Your Captain Tom (2E) Bernier is a US Coast Guard Certified Charter Boat Captain. I started fishing Lake Superior when I was 13 and have yet to stop, This gives me almost 40 years of fishing experience on the Big Lake. The boat is equipped with Radar, GPS/Sonar, Downriggers, Rods, Reels, divers, and lures. The boat also has a full head and all safety equipment on board.
2 tours offered daily Tuesday - Saturday at 10am and 12:30pm. The 'City, Woods and Lake Superior' tour includes downtown Grand Marais, a section of the Gunflint Trail, and the Gitchi Gami trail along Lake Superior to Sweetheart's Bluff.

Fly fishing opportunities abound near Grand Marais. The tributaries that flow into Lake Superior and our inland lakes are some of Minnesota’s most wild and scenic settings. Our guides are experienced and accomplished in a few sport-fishing methods, including fly-fishing and spin-fishing or baitcasting. No previous experience is required. Each tour begins with outfitting and then basic instruction occurs at the lake/tributary. We cover kick boat operation, stream wading technique, and basic fly casting.
